Our Favorite Resorts for SERVICE

We love great service ... who doesn't? But we are not high maintenance people who need someone fawning over us at all times. We understand "island time" and recognize that the level of accommodation will vary based on the culture of the country we are visiting. Heck, that's half the fun of travel. But there are certain levels of service that we expect in a luxury resort.

The following list outlines our expectations from staff at any luxury resort:

The resorts listed below take service to another level. If you love being pampered on your luxury tropical vacation, these resorts should be at the top of your list!

Ranking Resorts with the Best Service Island Region
#1 - Favorite Resort for Service Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Big Island Hawaii
Lounge Chairs on the Hualalai Beach

Comments: The service at the Four Seasons Hualalai is truly magnificent. There is so much to love about this resort as they do so many things so well; but the attention to detail is truly spectacular.

At the pool you will be pampered from the moment you arrive. At the Beach Tree Pool, the staff had us set up almost before we arrived. Whether it was an Evian spritz, fresh fruit or a cool refreshing otter pop during the midday sun, it was the little touches that made the experience special.

Housekeeping and turndown were awesome ... that is to say we were never interrupted by the staff, but our room was always made up when we returned. Assistance at the Spa and Golf Course were excellent and professional.

The service at the lounges and restaurants are first rate. As an example, at the Lava Lounge (above Pahu i'a) our Sushi order was taking a little longer than the server expected. Immediately, the server apologized and made an accommodation for the lapse in Hualalai standards. The service was not slow, but to us this shows how the staff holds themselves to a higher level and always strives for perfection.

The Four Seasons Hualalai is absolutely first class in all ways. The hotel management and staff "get it" when it comes to catering to their guests. Complimentary use of beach bags and free sunscreen at the pool and beach are just examples of little things that the resort does to enhance your stay. We felt everything that the resort did was with our comfort in mind. You will love the service you receive at Hualalai. As soon as you arrive, you will feel the true spirit of Aloha.

#2 - Favorite Resort for Service Halekulani Oahu Hawaii

Comments: Halekulani is a blend of flawless personalized service and old world Hawaiian elegance. Our journey began upon arrival at the resort with a personalized greeting from the bell staff. Our check-in was effortless and we received a personal tour of the grounds as we were escorted to our room. The service at the dining room always showed a personal touch, whether the environment was formal at La Mer or more casual at House Without a Key. The service at the pool just blew us away. We were greeted the moment we stepped into the pool area and were set-up with towels on the incredibly comfortable lounges. The service by the wait staff at the pool, like all other staff at Halekulani, was impeccable. Everywhere on the grounds of Halekulani, we were met with exquisite service that was both gracious and elegant.

#3 - Favorite Resort for Service Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa Taha'a Tahiti
Helicopter from Bora Bora

Comments: Upon arrival at Le Taha'a Private Island Resort and Spa we were told "there are no problems here, only solutions". This is the mindset of the staff when you stay at a resort which caters to your every whim. It started when the General Manager met us at the heliport after the helicopter ride over from Bora Bora (we highly recommend the Helicopter option if available ... awesome ride and amazing views!!) and ends with the General Manager and other staff seeing us off on our boat ride to the airport. Service at the spa, restaurants and housekeeping was excellent. We had one experience at the bar where the bartender did not see we needed another drink. After a couple of minutes he noticed and took our order. A member of management was nearby, saw the lack of prompt attention and informed us our drink was on the house. This is just an example of how the staff at Le Taha'a is committed to delivering superior quality during our stay.

While the service at Le Taha'a was exceptional, it was not overbearing. One has to remember that Le Taha'a caters to guests who seek seclusion and privacy. If you need help with anything, the staff of Le Taha'a is there to help immediately; but if you want privacy, the staff knows how to allow guests their space. If you want the tranquility and solitude of your own private island, Le Taha'a is the perfect experience for you.

#4 - Favorite Resort for Service Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman Grand Cayman Caribbean
Lounge Chairs on the Seven Mile Beach

Comments: At the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman, we received attention to detail in all aspects of our stay. The service is impeccable and provides an atmosphere of sheer luxury and relaxation.

At the pool, the staff is just waiting to meet your needs. Before we arrived at our lounge chairs, an attendant was there to set us up with everything we would need for our day at the pool. Want a drink? Just look up and an attendant is at your side in an instant.

At the beach, the set up was great. One time the attendant was away for a moment, so I started to pick up my own towel. The attendant almost magically appeared and was mortified that I had to do something myself. He immediately apologized and proceeded to get me setup, bring me water and look after us for the rest of the afternoon.

At the restaurants on property, the service was typical Ritz Carlton ... which is to say outstanding. At Blue, the service and presentation just blew us away. The food is out of this world, but the attention to detail is truly spectacular. Just another example of Ritz Carlton's commitment to excellence

They say that service is an art. At the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman they take that art to another level. Many resorts talk about world class, five star service, the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman delivers ... and then some.

#5 - Favorite Resort for Service Cap Juluca Anguilla Caribbean
Terrace at Cap Juluca

Comments: We found Cap Juluca sumptuous in every detail. Check in was smooth and quick (complete with a refreshing Rum Punch). All aspects of the service were remarkable: housekeeping, the lounge, the restaurants and the staff in general. Some delightful touches in our room included a complimentary bottle of rum; some stocked sodas in the fridge and freshly made lemonade. The rooms are somewhat spread out (which is what gives you the secluded feeling), so if we did not feel like walking we just called for a ride. Whenever we called for a ride to the main building or restaurant, the staff was always very quick and accommodating.

The beach ambiance is amazing ... lounges were set up and waiting right in front of our villa complete with an umbrella and a cooler filled with bottled water. A beach attendant was there all day to help with any requests as well as delivering your afternoon sorbet. The service at the restaurants was prompt and friendly (make sure to visit Wilma at Pimms!). Cap Juluca is able to provide exceptional service, but still keep that friendly, island cool vibe that we love so much!

Cap Juluca provides that perfect blend of terrific service when you want it versus the desire to be left alone in quiet seclusion that allows you to decompress and totally relax in paradise. That is not an easy balance to attain, but Cap Juluca made it seem effortless.
