CuisinArt Resort is located on amazing Rendezvous Beach in beautiful Anguilla. The resort is visually stunning with its Mediterranean architecture, whitewashed villas and beautifully maintained gardens. We found the resort to be well laid out and it is easy to get to the lobby, pool or beach from anywhere in the resort.
What we like most about CuisinArt is the comfortable feel and laid back atmosphere. Although CuisinArt is a great resort with everything you would expect from a luxury property, its vibe is more island casual than glitzy. This is what makes it one of our favorites.
BEACH - CuisinArt Resort sits on Rendezvous Bay, a large white sand crescent beach that is perfect for enjoying the beautiful tropical weather. There was an attendant to help us get set up when we arrived. When we wanted a cocktail, there was an attendant to help us in no time at all. At 3pm, we were served sorbet at our lounge chairs, which was delightful. CuisinArt is the only major resort on Rendezvous Beach so it's like having a beach to yourself. You can walk for miles and see no one! The beach is great for swimming or just lounging about, with its powder white sand and so many amazing colors of blue.

SPA- The Venus Spa at CuisinArt offers a wide variety of massages and body treatments in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The spa staff was very friendly and accommodating in helping me set up my perfect spa experience. I found the spa to be well sized with many treatment rooms and all the amenities one would expect in a world class spa. My favorite aspect the Venus Spa at CuisinArt Resort is the calm and tranquil feeling that washes over you as you prepare for your experience in relaxation. The beauty of the Caribbean and serenity of the Venus Spa are a combination that cannot be beaten!

ROOMS - We stayed in a junior suite (which I highly recommend), so this is the class of room we can give personal experience on. That being said...the view was to die for! We were beachfront with stunning views of Rendezvous Bay and St. Martin on the horizon. Nice balcony with lounge chairs and a table to take breakfast in the morning. The room itself was comfortable and well appointed. The room had an extra large walk-in closet which gave you plenty of room for your clothes and was even big enough to iron in; very convenient. While the room was very good, the bathroom was over the top. The bathroom had a HUGE soaker tub and separate shower, which was awesome. The bathroom was large (double sink) and very open, airy and light. Overall, the room exceeded our expectations.
Bankies Dune Preserve |
DON'T MISS
:
Bankies on the Beach
- Right next door to CuisinArt Resort is Bankies Dune Preserve. This is a restaurant/bar right on the Rendezvous Bay ... I mean right on the beach. You step from the sand to the bar. Great place to chill out and soak up some real local flavor. If you are looking for fancy, this ain't the place for you. But if you want a quick lunch and a few drinks with all the island feel, look no further. Sundays are busy with some live music. If you are lucky, you may even hear the legendary Bankie play for a while.
Pool - The pool at CuisinArt is a nice, comfortable pool with awesome views towards the beach. The pool is an infinity style that looks down towards Rendezvous Bay. While it's not overly large, we found there to be plenty of lounges available (many folks choose the beach instead), good set up service, complimentary water (nice touch) and drink service. If you like the big, action packed pool scene, this pool is not for you. But if you just want a comfortable place to relax and soak up the sun, you will be very happy with the pool at CuisinArt
Pool with a View! |
Beach Bar - During your stay at CuisinArt, you will definitely want to have a Rum Punch at the Beach bar. Located at the end of the infinity pool leading down to the beach, the beach bar is a great place to enjoy a cocktail, listen to some cool island music and enjoy the sensational views of Rendezvous Bay. The sun sets on the other side of the island, so you don't get a sunset crowd here. But for a cocktail after the beach (one of our favorite things to do) or before heading out to an early dinner, it's hard to beat the beach bar. Also, there is a bar in the lobby which is very nice and has a good feel to it. It is quiet and affords the chance to have a drink before dinner or a nightcap before retiring to your room. The bar/lounges at CuisinArt (along with Bankies) give you plenty of opportunity to enjoy a drink while soaking in the feel of Anguilla.
Activities - CuisinArt offers many activities that can be arranged through the concierge. We rented a car and had no problems; pick-up and delivery were right at the property. We recommend renting a car and exploring Anguilla on your own. You will definitely want to drive over to Shoal Bay and see the amazing beach. Anguilla is such a beautiful island and there are many places to explore. CuisinArt offers many day trips and all the feedback we received were very good. Anguilla is a much quieter island (which is what we love about it), so there is not as much activity as some of the other Caribbean islands. But there are plenty of day trips and activities to keep folks occupied who want a little more excitement their Caribbean adventure.
Nightlife and Other Dining Options - Anguilla boasts many excellent restaurants with many options to fit the tastes of anyone. We recommend Straw Hat or Blanchards if you are looking for more "upscale" dining. Both restaurants are located just steps from the beach and offer amazing views and wonderful menus. If you are looking for casual dining, head over to Sandy Ground and give the Pumphouse a try. A casual atmosphere, good food and good times make Pumphouse at Sandy Ground a great option for laid-back fun on Anguilla
Anguilla has some interesting options if you like to get away from the resort and listen to some music and enjoy a drink. Malliouhana Resort offers a great option for a sunset cocktail and there are several local bars at Sandy Ground. While there are nightlife options in Anguilla, don't expect casinos (there are none) or nonstop partying a la Jamaica or Cancun (thank goodness!). But for a Rum Punch and soaking up some local flavor, Anguilla is a good place to get out among the locals.
Lack of Sunset - OK, maybe I am splitting hairs, but the sun does set on the opposite side of the island, so you will not have sunsets from the resort. You can go to The Malliouhana for great drinks and sunsets. If you get up early, you get great sunrises, so there is always that to look forward to.
Food - The food was generally good, but a couple of our meals at the resort were a little disappointing. That said, our continental breakfast that was delivered to our room was very good. We also ordered room service (burger and pizza) and they were good. We were fine with the food but our tastes are simpler when it comes to food on vacation. Some folks we spoke to, foodies by their own admission were somewhat dissatisfied in the food at the resort. So keep that in mind if you are looking for gourmet meals during your stay. The good thing to remember is there are many great restaurants on Anguilla for you to try!

Map of CusinArt Resort on Anguilla
View Larger MapThe Island of Anguilla is an arid, flat, low-lying island that generally only supports scrub brush. There are no rain forests or mountainous regions that you find on some of the Caribbean islands. What you do get are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We find Anguilla to be similar to the Out Islands of the Bahamas or the Turks and Caicos; which is fine with us because these islands tend to have great beaches. We think it is important to inform folks as to the general geography so there will be no surprises when you arrive for your vacation.
The weather in Anguilla is fantastic; if you like lots of sunshine and cooling breezes. The weather is generally good year-round, with warm tropical temperatures, lots of sun and gentle breezes. But Anguilla is located in the Caribbean, which means you should be prepared for unexpected rain storms as well as the occasional hurricane that hit generally during the months June through November. But the hurricanes are rare, and even the rain does not last long. There is plenty of sun throughout the year.

Rainfall - Whenever we go on vacation, trying to avoid rain is always high on our list. My husband is especially fanatical about this. Since it's in the tropics, Anguilla, like all Caribbean islands, is going to get some rain. But Anguilla generally receives less rainfall than other Caribbean islands. The average is about 40 inches of rain per year, with the most rain in May-November (see chart to the right). So if you want to minimize rain on your trip, Anguilla is a very good option.

Temperature - The chart at the right shows the average temperatures for Anguilla. As you would expect the average temperatures (as well as the humidity) increase fairly significantly in the June-October time frame. The breezes in Anguilla provide some relief from the heat, but it can still get toasty in the summer (just like any Caribbean island). Of course the upside is that the summer is the low season and you can get better deals. During the winter months, the temperature still averages 79°F. This feels pretty good when escaping the freezing temperatures back home. The prices are more during the winter (and holidays), but what price can we put on 80°F and beautiful beaches in the middle of winter.
Before you go Anguilla, or anywhere in the Caribbean, it is always wise to keep a watch on the weather.
